The advancements of women’s role in the academic sector

Considering it’s Women’s Month, this article focuses on how education and the involvement of girls, adolescents, and women in the academic sector contribute to global economic growth and social development through female empowerment.

Currently, women’s participation in Latin America’s academic and labor sectors is a major concern for societies and governments in the region. Despite significant progress, there are still challenges to achieve true gender equity in these areas.

Key Figures:

In Latin America, changes reflecting the importance of women in the academic and labor sectors are evident. In Colombia, over 50% of university students are women. According to Aequales’ Par ranking, female participation in companies has increased by 826%, showcasing more accurate data on women in the workforce. However, only 26% of women hold leadership positions in the continent’s businesses.

Women in STEM:

Despite some professions being female-dominated, true equity in STEM fields—Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics—remains elusive. According to UNESCO, less than 30% of researchers worldwide are women.

Nevertheless, top UK and global universities offer numerous opportunities for both adolescents and women to pursue their chosen programs. They can apply for scholarships, some exclusively for women, with special support for mothers, simplifying the process to achieve personal and professional dreams.

Realize your ambition of becoming the professional you’ve always desired with expert guidance throughout the journey. Discover the possibilities to study at the best UK universities while experiencing life-changing opportunities.
